I am quite surprised to awake to a new political climate in the USA. Although I knew that the Bushies were getting pretty shrill and increasingly out of their minds, I had become resigned to a future that would be more and more like Nazi Germany as I grew older.
I was especially surprised that the first act by a clearly humbled Bush would be to fire Sec. Def. Rumsfeld.
That said, I am still not convinced that life will be much different, especially for the next few months, because the problems that have accumulated in the last decade of the right-wing theo-crazy government by propaganda are too difficult to solve by merely voting out the old nuts and voting in the new ones. At least there will be a slow-down in the accumulation of dementia -- I hope.
There is still a reality of war, poverty, Israeli-Palestinian insanity, border problems and the destruction of the environment by every country in the world including and especially US, and the religious nuts trying to erase a thousand years of progress. These things will not be solved by ushering in a new set of politicians.
It is, though, like picking your nose. It gets the boogers out.
